Dr. Ian McConnachie is a paediatric dentist practicing in Ottawa, Canada. He is also on consultant staff at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
Dr. McConnachie has been very active volunteering with many dental organizations in Canada, currently serving on committees with the Ontario Dental Association, Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and the Ottawa Dental Society.
Dr. McConnachie began his lengthy involvement with the Ontario Dental Association serving as member and chair of a number of committees. Elected to the Board of Directors in 1999, he continued to serve on many committees of the Board, chairing many. Ultimately, he became President of the ODA in 2006. During his presidential year, Dr. McConnachie sought, in particular to improve access to care for all dental patients, especially those who are disadvantaged.
In the summer of 2008, Dr. McConnachie participated as a speaker at a symposium on Designing Dental Programs for High-Risk Children, held during the annual meeting of the International Association of Dental Research. This began for Dr. McConnachie a new path in which he became a nationally recognized speaker on issues in pediatric dentistry. He continues this involvement to this day.
